Nursing Science
Joel Adeleke AFOLAYAN is a Professor in the Department of Nursing Science, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, University of Ilorin, with over 25 years of university teaching, research, and administrative experience in the University and other related Nursing institutions. He holds two doctoral degrees: one in Psychology and the other in Advanced Mental Health Nursing. He also has a diploma in Law. He is a Registered Nurse, Nurse Tutor, Nurse Administrator, and a Fellow of the West African Postgraduate College of Nursing and Midwives
His areas of research interest cover Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing, Child and Adolescent Health, Developmental Psychology, Maternal/Perinatal Mental Health, and Spirituality and Spiritual Care in Nursing. Also, Nursing education and management, including Stress in the Nurses’ place of work, and Disclosure as a means of prevention of HIV/AIDS
He has to his credit over Ninety publications in reputable outlets covering local, national, and international journals, edited conference proceedings, and chapters in books. He has successfully supervised many Master’s dissertations and Ph.D. theses. He has attended several conferences and has won several research grants. Professor Afolayan is a member of many professional bodies within and outside Nigeria. He is the 267th inaugural lecturer titled “Mind over Matter in the removal of the thick veil of Negligence.”
