Dr. Adebiyi Falilat Omowumi is a highly accomplished nurse scholar, educator, and administrator currently serving as a Lecturer I in the Department of Nursing Science at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. Alongside her university appointment, she serves as the Head of Department (HOD) for Paediatric Nursing at the College of Nursing Sciences, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH). With nearly three decades of clinical and academic excellence since her first appointment in 1998, Dr. Adebiyi brings an extensive depth of knowledge to the fields of pediatric healthcare, nursing education, and maternal-child health.
She holds a Ph.D. in Nursing and an M.Sc. in Nursing Sciences from Babcock University, complemented by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from LAUTECH. Her clinical background includes specialized diplomas across General Nursing (RN), Midwifery (RM), Paediatric Nursing, and Nursing Education, alongside a Higher National Diploma in Public Health Nursing.
An active and widely published researcher, Dr. Adebiyi’s work focuses on critical community health challenges, including neonatal basic life support, postpartum care barriers, adolescent wellbeing, and nursing stress management strategies. She is an active member of several professional bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) and the Kwara State Committee Council of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Throughout her academic career, she has been recognized with multiple honors, including being named Best Nurse of the Year in the UITH Paediatric Department and Best Quality Leader in the Nurse Tutor Programme.
